Winter Approaching

The unseasonably warm weather here in Virginia doesn't show it, but with Thanksgiving behind us and Christmas less than a month away, I'm reminded that winter is fast approaching.

At the end of 2010, I loaded a roll of film in my 35mm Minolta, and set out to take some real photos, on real film.  None of that digital stuff.  I wanted something tangible, maybe even nostalgic.

The photos came out feeling a little apocalyptic, mysterious.  I've titled this small series The Last Days of 2010.

With 2011 soon drawing to a close, I'm taking a look back, and looking forward to what the new year will bring.  Hopefully it will be a year of new beginnings and lots of creativity!

Collage Art

Collage is one of my favorite types of art making.  I love collecting and assembling scraps of paper, each with it's own history, and creating something new and full of life.  Here are a few mini collages I've done over the years, now for sale on my etsy site: www.blackbirdassembly.etsy.com

Trumpet Sound, 3 x 3.5", 2010

Rock Steady, 5 x 3", 2010

Le Fleur, 3.625 x 5.25", 2007

Double Zero, 6.5 x 4", 2005

True/False?, 5.75 x 4", 2005
